At Equi-Health Canada the health and safety of horses is our priority. In 2018 we launched our 'certified safe' initiative, where barn, ranch and stable owners could bring in our instructors and learn first aid, advanced first aid, and disaster planning for them and their staff, volunteers and/or family/boarders, ensuring a well-prepared team and a certified safe facility for anyone visiting or residing there.
Facilities that are certified by Equi-Health Canada (EHC) have met the following criteria:
They have hosted an EHC-sanctioned Equine Health and Emergency First Aid clinic and have staff or volunteers onsite with current first aid certification.
They have hosted an EHC-sanctioned Advanced Equine Emergency First Aid clinic and have staff or volunteers onsite with current advanced certification.
They have hosted an EHC-sanctioned Disaster Planning and Emergency Preparedness clinic and have staff or volunteers onsite with current certification.
They have an ongoing relationship with Equi-Health Canada, remaining up-to-date on new health and emergency protocols, and host a minimum of two EHC-sanctioned courses per year, with any of the currently certified Equi-Health Canada Instructors.
Facilities who meet these criteria are awarded an annual Certified Safe certificate to hang on their facility wall. They will also have their facility listed here with website link and contact information at no charge.
If you have hosted the above three courses in the past year, please contact us to have your facility added to the Certified Safe listings.
Stable Life Inc is a registered not for profit organization that enhances the mental health and life skills of youth, adults, families, and groups through therapeutic interaction with horses. In 2013, Tinker’s human, Alison (Aly) Walsh lost her battle with mental illness at the age of 25. At Stable Life we create safe places for people to grow and safe places for horses to share their knowledge.
Thermal Imaging can be extremely useful for determining changes in circulation (blood flow) to an area as the body begins to react to inflammation, infection, and nerve damage up to 2 weeks or more before there are signs of pain. This is useful in improving performance of equine athletes, and we have even seen great results as part of the support team for rodeo bulls.
